Re: what do you add to your hot chocolate
Tue, September 11, 2007 - 3:30 PMIt might sound strange, but to give it a kick Ill add some Southern Comfort.
I know, gross, right? But you havent tried it yet... somehow, it works. Best on chilly nights for that extra added warmth.

Wed, September 12, 2007 - 4:05 PMto a cup of hot milk I add a wedge or two of Ibarra mexican chocolate and an equal amount of Scharfenberger's 80% chocolate, then a pinch of roasted pasilla chile poder. i let it sit for a few minutes then stick an itty bitty whisk in the cup and whisk until frothy and smooth. Soooo heavenly. -

Re: what do you add to your hot chocolate
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 12:42 PMSouthern Comfort is a vile abomination of a fruity/spicy whiskey. And unfortunately what we were given by the guy we gave 20 bucks to get us something from the liquor store when my friends & I were 16 & decided to drink for the first time. The memories still linger in my sinuses seventeen years later. Needless to say, I have not had it since. To each their own, though. -

Re: what do you add to your hot chocolate
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 2:58 PMSouthern Comfort is not whiskey it's bourbon. Please don't sour the good name of whiskey with that. <Sorry I'm a bit of a whiskey snob> -

Re: what do you add to your hot chocolate
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 8:51 PMwho knows, maybe the sweet/fruity/spicy taste is actually good in cocoa, where it tastes like cough syrup gone rancid elsewhere. I guess it couldn't hurt to spend a buck on one of those little one shot airplane bottles at the liquor store to find out....

Re: what do you add to your hot chocolate
Mon, October 15, 2007 - 1:40 PMoh,,, all kinds of things.
If it's teh packets of mix, i add powdered milk, to make it more creamy. in a pinch, coffee "creamer" adds, too.
But if i'm at home, where i can really enjoy it, i like to add lots of things (not at once, hehe). a candy can as a stir stick; chili ; ameretto (my fav), butter (yes, you read that right... makes it fudgy).
